SAIBA describes the Business Accountant in Practice (SA) as its official designation for accounting officers, licensed independent reviewers and tax practitioners. This designation requires a minimum NQF level 7 qualification [internal link], such as the Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting [internal link]. Admission requirements:
- Academic: Commerce based National Diploma or Degree from an accredited institute of higher learning, that includes the 5 following subjects: Accounting III, Auditing II, Tax II, Management Accounting II, Corporate Law II. (NQF level 7 or higher) [internal link]
- Practical: 4 years relevant finance department experience in accounting and tax OR 3 years as a trainee in practice
- Exams: Completion of a course and assessment in ethics.
- Completion of the SAIBA Annual Practice License Part 1 and Part 2
- CPD: Must complete at least 40 hours of relevant CPD, at least 25 of which are verifiable. Members may forward 25 hours of credit from one year to the next.
